In Between Projects

There’s something about finishing a project that has me at loose ends and not sure what to do with myself. It’s not like I don’t have four other (really!) projects that I want to start and a few clothes patterns I want to sew for my daughter. I do. But there is a unique place for me between projects where lack of motivation meets desire to do absolutely nothing and I sit down with them both to watch HGTV. I think it’s the starting part. Normally I am a fantastic starter. So fantastic, in fact, that there was a time when I started quite a lot and finished quite a little. It became a little joke in my marriage. Luckily, a very little joke. I have made progress and I finish just about everything I start these days, unless I deem it unworthy in the midst of it. But the love, for me, of the project is in the “getting lost”. The middle is fun when you can start to see real progress and your creation is taking shape. When you don’t care that it’s an hour past when you should have been in bed or that it’s waaaay too early to be awake because you want to keep working on it.

But, for now, maybe I’ll get some sleep to fuel up for getting lost in my next project…
